Haworth is situated in the heart of West Yorkshire amid the Pennines where many of the surrounding farms have a long history for farming sheep. For centuries much of the undyed wool from black and white sheep has been woven into what is called a shepherd check or most commonly referred to as the dogtooth. Historians believe this to be the first plaid ever designed.
